Over the last month or so I’ve been working on redefining what we do. Of course we teach martial arts but truthfully this just a vehicle. It’s a vehicle by which we teach life and leadership skills. More specifically I want to teach EXCELLENCE!
I’m tired of dealing with average and the status quo! If we are going to thrive we need to be more. So what is excellence? Here are the three keys to my philosophy of excellence:
1. Attention to Detail – its not enough to do something, you have to do it right. It’s not enough to have it close to right, it has to be absolutely correct. Excellence isn’t in the big stuff, it’s in the details!
2. Follow Through – Start strong, finish strong. Starting is never an issue. Everyone starts stuff but people of excellence follow through. They put in the effort the whole time. Excellence takes following through further then everyone else.
3. Constant Improvement – Bruce Lee has a quote I love, “Be happy but never satisfied.” A person of excellence celebrates their accomplishments but also looks to continue to improve. If you’re not growing your dying.
These are the skills we’re going to start focusing on more! We want a new level of excellence to shine at our school. Are you ready to step up?
