A casual observer may only notice a bit of weeding and sweeping as Newtown High School Greenery students maintain the planting beds around our campus. A closer look reveals Greenhouse Director/ Biology Teacher, Mr. George Bachman, working along with his students and maximizing every opportunity for learning.
The topic of this day was Competitiveness in Mixed-Plant Communities, including discussions about how native plants have evolved to survive within their habitat.
Lessons learned in this "classroom" prepare Greenery students as knowledgeable resources for their customers – members of the community that purchase Greenery products during Saturday sales hours.
Students in grades 9-12 are welcome to enroll in greenhouse based courses and the student run enterprise.
