Any.DO's pared-down, minimalist design makes the application both easy to use and efficient. It also has some keen features that help set it apart from other productivity apps.
The application of course includes auto-predictive text and voice-to-text recognition, both of which can be activated by simple and elegant gesture support. Slowly dragging the screen down activates a new entry where voice-to-text can be easily added. Holding and then dragging down goes straight to voice-to-text.
This all-gesture UI may not be as initially intuitive as more traditional tapping and clicking, but once you get the hang of it, you will wonder why we do things any other way. You can add notes and reminder alerts to entries or even specify individual folders (think Birthdays). And there is also a nice landscape feature that gives you a different layout as soon as you do a quarter turn.
The social component to the app is an exceptional feature for sharing tasks with family or friends, so if you and your wife both pick up groceries separately, for example, you will not each show up at home with a dozen eggs. Any.DO interfaces with Facebook, Twitter, or your phone's contacts.
Any.DO launched last November and had half a million Android downloads in just 30 days. It was backed by $1 million in angel funding from investors Innovation Endeavors, Blumberg Capital, Genesis Partners, and Felicis Ventures. Any.DO is currently the number one free app in the productivity genre in the United States.
