Black Sabbath have released some footage of the band in the studio as they work on their forthcoming new album, “13.”
The band announced Wednesday that the record will be released June 11.
Sabbath recorded the album primarily in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin.
“I’ve been a fan of Black Sabbath my whole life,” explains Rubin, “and getting to come to work every day and hearing Black Sabbath play, it stimulates something in me just like when I was 14 years old; the same thing gets stimulated that, like, I remember listening to the vinyl. The same thing gets turned on, and it’s a really good feeling.”
“He looks like a bit of a guru,” says Ozzy Osbourne, “but he knows what he’s looking for and when he’s satisfied with what he’s got.”
“I think he’s looking for a raw Sabbath,” adds Tony Iommi, “and I think we’re looking for that, as well.”
Original Sabbath members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler worked on the project with Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk, handling drum duties in the absence of Bill Ward, who decided to sit things out over a contractual dispute.
Song titles set to appear on the CD include three seven-plus-minute behemoths "End Of The Beginning", "God Is Dead" and "Epic", as well as a track about killing pedophile priests ("Dear Father") and another about the scourge of methamphetamine addiction ("Methademic").
Sabbath will launch their 2013 tour with two dates in Auckland, New Zealand, starting on 4/20.
