Wing Chun News: Wing Chun Overkill - Behind the Scenes

Wing Chun Overkill - Behind the Scenes Like us on FB www.facebook.com Join us on TWITTER twitter.com Behind the Scenes on OVERKILL? Here's some little facts behind it and really good educational read. We filmed it in 2 1/2 hours. I simply had a choreographed image in my mind, explained it to the guys, and basically did a quick walk through of about 2 to 4 times. In other words, we shot it on the spot. There was no rehearsal or practice time involved and keep in mind this was all for test shooting camera angles as well as a particular look were trying to achieve in a fight scene. Why are we doing this? Martial arts in Hollywood or anywhere else is dead. And please no email asking what about Jason Statham or the Ipman movies. If there's one thing I agree with Bruce Lee about, its hard to believe that 40 years later the same issues are arriving in fight scnes, after he said we still see Samurai Sunday Martial Arts (like Ipman) or worst yet actors doing moves and getting cut clipped to death like they know how to fight, its just all so hard to swallow it. So, when you can't be entertained, then you do the next common sense thing, and do it yourself. There were several goals in this actual filming of Overkill, try to keep the fight realistic but retain the look of Wing Chun, and in the end I think were about 60% there to what we really want it to be. We also didn't want to cut from scenes if it didn't call for it, since I didn't want the actual moves to be lost. Bottom line, since I can punch and kick fast as well ...
