The Sit Down With Ronnie Faisst | Damp Aspirations Rewritten From ...

What has been going on in the world of Ronnie Faisst ?

Pretty much the last week I’ve had Nuclear Cowboyz rehearsal with the rest of the team and then got dialed in for the first two shows of the tour. Other than that I’m just on the tour schedule right now… travel, shows Saturday and Sunday, fitness, training and back home getting organized again for the next week. Been staying busy that is for sure. During the week just training hard, gym and riding as much as I can with the team.

Who else from the Mulisha is on the Nuclear Cowboyz tour with you ?

Myself, Wes, Julian, Fitzo, Garland, Dunne and then Bell is our alternate on this years tour. This year is going to be fun! Wes is taking on the Leader roll of the tour for the Mulisha team which is cool and we all look forward to each stop. Last year I had that roll as the Leader with the Gold Bike but I’m pretty pumped on how my bike looks right now all blacked out… looks pretty bad!

Are there any particular stops on the tour your excited about ?

I’m looking forward to Jersey because I got a lot of family and friends out there including my buddy’s I used to race with. They all come out to the show and have a good time for sure. I like the Tampa stop as well, I got friends down there and it’s always warm.

How did you like the Transworld Motocross ad ?

I thought the ad was really cool, good concept and by far my favorite ad of all the ads Mulisha has done on me. It really shows who I am, what I do, and big parts of my life. The ad has my Harley in there that I love to ride, all the Martial Arts I train for, photos of me as a kid racing. It’s almost like flashback of my life.

Any changes to your FMX Compound ?

Well at my house I am fortunate enough to have a really nice Speed and Style track and freestyle setup. It’s great to get out there and train daily for tours, contest and demos. I put in some different lanes, options, and whoops early this year on my track which has been helping me out a lot. In February I plan on rebuilding the whole thing again and changing it up so it’s fresh and something new. X Games went Global this year but unfortunately they only have 2 stops for Speed and Style. The first one is in Brazil but I am already committed to Nuclear so I can’t attend that contest but I will however be ready to take on the X Games in Los Angeles for Speed and Style. I really want to go out there and win this year. Last year was great for me, I took the Bronze so, I’m going to keep training, come up with some good tricks and work on my start. The biggest thing about Speed and Style is the start, and my biggest competitors right now for that event is Twitch and Mason so I’m ready to get out there and work on that Gold medal!

You had a fan question on our Facebook page from Noah Manly, How did you fist get into Motocross and what would you recommend for a beginner on the track ?

I got into Motocross when I was 9 years old and started riding in the back yard and started to make a track at this gravel pit up the street from my house. My dad was pretty impressed and took me races and started racing. I think for a beginner on the track or someone just starting to learn, is basic body techniques and control of the bike like the throttle, clutch and how to position your body. That’s really everything and a great start to get into corners, whoops and go with your speed throughout the track. Things will start feeling right on the bike for and you’ll know. I taught myself and then signed up for a Motocross school to really buckle down on what to do right. So I’d say go to a Motocross school, learn the basics and take one step at a time until you start getting more comfortable on your bike.

Another Fan question is from Patrick Borgman, What is the funnest trick for you to perform in your opinion ?

Man I would have to say Whips man. They never get old for some reason and they’re so fun. It feels so good to get out there and find that one jump that you roll up on, and crack out a big whip and just hang it! To me they never get old, it’s the oldest trick in the book but man it’s so fun. I’d say for Freestyle trick I really like doing Double Nacs… those are always fun.

Last question from Brendan Smith, who would win a fight, Mister Miyagi or Bruce Lee ?

Dude, Bruce Lee haha.
